Pinterest Fan Box – Want to display your Pinterest followers  in your Magento site?

I think you at least hear about the concept “Facebook Fan Box”, a box displays some of your fans in your web page! So can we do the same with Pinterest, to display some of our followers in our website? It’s such a great integration to promote our brand as well as our community!

The concept is not really new but the tool / extension that supports us to do that with Pinterest is only ONE at this time, and for Magento! We may create a plugin for WordPress with the same functionality after. But for now, let say about the extension we’ve just told you, it named Pingento If you often check our site, you can see we introduced to you this great extension in some tutorials, Pinterest Feeds – How to display your pinboard in your Magento site or Pinterest Magento Linker

So the first thing you need to do is upgrading Pingento to the latest version 1.1.4 (or deploy it if you haven’t installed it yet)

Then go to the back office of Pingento, you will see a new config part named Fanbox Options under “Feeds Options”.

In there, you have to enter your Pinterest username into the textbox “Pinterest Username”, then we will show maximum “Maximum Number” from your followers with your account entered.

After setting all information, you will get the Pinterest Fan box in your Magento site! You also can enable the “Follow me on Pinterest” button to allow visitors easily to follow you if they want!

P/S: at this time, the extension is supporting Fanbox blocks in either the left column or the right column, means 2 columns layout or 3 columns layout. It may support custom position in the next releases.

Also some current limitations of the current version:
- Currently, Pinterest itself doesn’t support any method to get the followers of an account that has more than 200 followers via its API, so either you have to choose an account with less than 200 followers or be calm down at this time until Pinterest provide to us more capabilities to do with its API!!!
- At this time we are using synchronous process to get Pinterest Feeds and Pinterest Followers, then it may be block other processes for a little bit time. We are hard working for an Asynchronous loading version with AJAX to improve the user experience also speed load :)

Wonderful blog! I found it while searching on Yahoo News. Do you have any tips on how to get listed in Yahoo News? I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Many thanks

Reading is one of my favorite past-times. I think your work is incredible and easy to understand. There is so much valuable information here that it leaves the reader thinking over much of the content.
